We acquire the strength of that which we overcome. Viewed in this light, life’s challenges can become welcomed opportunities. Some people adopt the habit of turning away from life’s obstructions. Others accept that which is placed in front of them, and go in. By allowing the present to exist, as it exists, we acknowledge a destiny that is uniquely ours, accepted and chosen. We manifest who we are in our expressions of resolve. When we persevere, never giving up, tackling that which is difficult, we are lead to places we may not regard as relevant to our lives. As it turns out, they are relevant, if not precisely where we are meant to be in a given moment. We do not always have the option to sidestep our challenges, such as in cases involving our physical, mental, emotional heath, or as when dealing with the loss of a loved one. If one establishes a track-record of avoiding their minor discomforts, they may not be well enough practiced in acceptance and overcoming, to stand up to the more significant ones as they arise. Mastery of any subject is mastery of its smallest components. Each time we choose to meet life’s discomforts with patience and resolve, we develop important and useful life skills. The strength of our character is built, brick by brick, challenge by challenge, acceptance upon acceptance. In the process of discovering resolutions to our minor and major difficulties, we acquire the very strength of that which we are called upon to overcome. Invite life in, welcome the challenges, and experience your uniqueness.
