In a world demonstrating disunity, disorder, disaster after disaster, we are called to bring to life that which only we can, peace. Within and throughout our daily moments, our every single breath of life, we can choose between chaos and serenity. This choice has never been more relevant, or existential, than in our current time. Be still and breathe, repeat. Simple, not easy. Requires practice. Requires intent. Takes us directly to ourselves. Takes us to our common humanity. Delivers to us the questions of our time. The source of our individual action lies within, and it is in this practice of meditation that we are delivered to our root being. To the understanding, that it is we who create the world in which we live. There is really no ‘other out there’ doing it to us. Though we abdicate power to others by making them targets of our discontent, this is not the high road. We engage in the blame game at our own peril. This path leads to endless targeting, blaming and increasing hostility. The power to create is uniquely human. It is also a significant responsibility. The first stop in redirecting our energies, has to be from within. It is through gaining mastery of our individual mental machinery, that we begin to have our hands on the levers of change. Take small, natural steps each day, spending time getting to know ourselves from the inside out. Natural consequences of well-being come to us, to our world, as a result of this kind of slowing down. May peace be with you during this season of hope.
